As a global technology company, NCR is especially dependent on its information
technology (IT) infrastructure. As such, in the mid-1990s, NCR's IT Services organization built an
incident tracking application on Remedy's Action Request System® (AR System®). Today, that
application, called Atlas, is NCR's global standard for incident tracking. In 2002, NCR's technology and
information staff integrated password management capabilities into the help desk environment to enhance
security and provide self service password reset capabilities for its customers. The staff chose P-Synch
from Hitachi ID, a Remedy Technical Alliance Partner, to do the job. Tight integration between P-Synch and
AR System ensures that call records in Atlas are created, updated and closed when a help desk agent uses
P-Synch to reset a password. The P-Synch project is already saving time for the support staff and saving
money for NCR.
